Baryon is operated by Kyle Daniel Collins, doing business as Baryon (“Baryon”, “we”, “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Baryon desktop application, the Baryon website, and related services. It is referenced by, and forms part of, the Baryon End User License Agreement.
The short version
- Your live audio is analyzed locally on your device. Baryon does not record it, transmit it, or send it to us.
- We collect only what we need to license the app, take payment, deliver updates, provide support, and keep the app working.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Information we collect
You give us:
- Account and license data — the email address tied to your Baryon Pro license, and license activation details.
- Purchase data — billing details and transaction records when you buy a Baryon Pro license. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
- Support data — messages, attachments, and contact details when you contact support, join the waitlist, or send feedback.
Processed automatically when the app or website contacts our services:
- Device and license identifiers — a device or installation identifier, used to validate licenses and feature access.
- App and diagnostic data — operating system/platform, app version, and basic crash or error reports when diagnostic reporting is enabled.
- Website analytics data — basic site usage data when allowed by your cookie choices, used to understand site traffic and improve the website.
- Service request metadata — hosting, licensing, payment, email, and diagnostic providers may process request metadata such as IP address and user agent when they receive requests from Baryon. We do not use this for advertising.
We do not collect the audio Baryon analyzes, or the recordings, renders, or performances you create with it. That content stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
How we use information
- Provide, activate, and validate your license and the app’s features.
- Process purchases, renewals, refunds, and chargebacks.
- Deliver updates, security fixes, and support.
- Understand aggregate website traffic and improve the website.
- Diagnose crashes and errors, prevent abuse, and protect the app and our users.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on contract (to license the app, take payment, and provide services you request), legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve Baryon and prevent abuse), legal obligation (to meet tax, accounting, and other legal requirements), and consent (where we ask for it, such as certain optional cookies or communications). You can withdraw consent at any time.
Sharing
We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, including a payment processor, backend hosting and infrastructure providers, email and support tools, and error and diagnostic tools. We may also disclose information to comply with law or legal process, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
International transfers
We may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention
We keep license, purchase, and tax records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymize them. Diagnostic data is kept for a limited period. Support messages are kept as long as needed to handle your request and our records.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California and similar jurisdictions may request to know, delete, or correct their information and are entitled to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of in that respect.
To exercise any right, email support@baryon.live. We will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies
The Baryon website uses limited cookies and similar technologies, managed through our cookie banner and described in this policy. Where required, the banner lets you accept, reject, or manage optional cookies.
Children
Baryon is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, email support@baryon.live and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the version and effective date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice where appropriate.
